This qualification is for individuals working in a range of community settings and peoples’ homes who provide support to empower those with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing.

CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability provides you with the skills and knowledge to empower people with disabilities to achieve their individual goals, gain more independence and lead better lives. Traineeship

Online

Our online learning refers to instruction that is delivered through various multimedia and Internet platforms and applications. Also referred to as web-based learning, e-learning, computer-assisted instruction, and Internet-based learning.

Campus

The benefit of face-to-face education is a great way to enjoy your studies on campus. With adult learning and an adult environment, you are respected, supported and nurtured.

Attend a campus to learn face-to-face with a teacher in one space, such as a classroom, workshop, laboratory, or simulated environments, or interact with teachers using real-time video or web conference tools. 

Our courses delivered on campus have a combination of online and classroom-based learning. You will also be expected to undertake additional personal study to complete the course requirements.

Mixed Mode (blended)

Gain the flexibility you need when studying mixed mode with Cornzal. The Certificate IV in Disability Support consists of online study with on-campus study and mandatory vocational placement. Vocational placement consists of 120 hours in a work environment, arranged by our team. With our online study, you can conveniently access your trainers via Teams, email, and all learning resources are easily accessed in one online location.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. 

You will be required to complete the Learning, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment to identify any Learning Support needs we can assist you with.

It is recommended that you understand basic business and technology ideas, which may have been acquired through previous training, qualifications and/or work experience.

You will be required to access and use technology to complete the learning assessment activities and resources within this course.

This is the cost of the training and assessment services provided by the training provider. The fee is paid to the training provider Fee for Services (FFS). Your employer may choose to pay the course fees on your behalf.

If you are not currently employed or volunteering in industry, during your course you will be required to complete vocational placement so you can start practising your new skills in a real-world environment. You’ll be required to work shifts determined by the placement provider, and these can include early mornings or late nights, any day of the week, including public holidays. Cornzal will be able to assist in arranging suitable placements.

Completing placement is compulsory, and you will be expected to manage family and work commitments to complete your shifts. You are required to complete 120 hours of placement to satisfy this component of your qualification.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

This course requires you to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check to be eligible to attend the vocational placement assessment component of your studies.

Prior to Placement, you will need to receive and provide evidence of the following checks:

  • You must complete your online NDIS Worker Screening Clearance application at this link – NDIS Worker Screening Unit (WSU), and nominate Cornzal Pty Ltd as your employer. There is no cost to students. Cornzal will verify each student.
  • Students must also complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Online Modules (4 modules/approximately 90 minutes in total). Upon completion, students will need to provide their Certificate of Completion to both Cornzal and their placement provider.

If your check identifies that you have a criminal history, you may be disqualified from being eligible to undertake placement and assessment, which would affect your course outcomes. If you think this might impact you, please speak to the relevant placement officer for further information.

Vaccination requirements

COVID-19 vaccination requirements across a range of high-risk settings have eased. There are no Public Health Directions in effect requiring you to be vaccinated in high-risk settings. However, decisions on mandatory vaccinations will be made by the owner or operator of these health settings. Some facilities may also mandate the number of vaccinations required. These requirements will be provided to the student, prior to arrangements being made for the completion of vocational placement.

Information about vaccinations and other immunisations for Vocational Placement need to be followed very closely.

The below is a summary for you to note and action as soon as you are informed of enrolment:

  • Annual Influenza Vaccination
  • Some facilities may require COVID-19 vaccination
  • Some Aged Care organisations may require Hepatitis B immunisation

Vaccination and screening/testing evidence requirements may alter during your studies, in accordance with changes to industry requirements and/or Australian Immunisation Guidelines.

Need to know

Those students who have a medical contraindication may be unable to complete the vocational placement component of their course. This means you may not be able to meet all the requirements of your course and may not be able to graduate or receive your qualification.
