Course Description
This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring behaviour, and removing persons from premises.
This qualification is intended to align with the following occupational licencing outcomes:
Security officer – unarmed guard
Security officer – crowd controller.
Security officers may work alone or work in a team environment under general supervision, operating with limited autonomy and judgement to complete routine but variable tasks, with some accountability and responsibility for their own outputs, work, and learning.

Traineeship

You must already be employed to enrol as an apprentice or trainee with Cornzal Pty Ltd.
Campus
The benefit of face-to-face education is a great way to enjoy your studies on campus. With adult learning and an adult environment, you are respected, supported, and nurtured.
Attend a campus to learn face-to-face with a teacher in one space, such as a classroom, workshop, laboratory, or simulated environments, or interact with teachers using real-time video or web conference tools.
Our courses delivered on campus have a combination of online and classroom-based learning. You will also be expected to undertake additional personal study to complete the course requirements.
Online
Our online learning refers to instruction that is delivered through various multimedia and Internet platforms and applications. Also referred to as web-based learning, e-learning, computer-assisted instruction, and Internet-based learning.

There are no formal pre-requisites or entry requirements for enrolling into this course. You must be eligible to apply for a security licence which means you must not have been convicted of a disqualifying offence in the past 10 years, where a conviction was recorded.
Students must have sufficient skills to read, write and communicate in English. Students must also be physically fit, and able to perform defensive tactic techniques, and bend/kneel for at least 2 minutes to perform CPR.
You are required to access a reliable internet connection to access Cornzal’s online systems, a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software may be available for students to use at a campus. We recommend that students have access to a laptop or mobile device that supports internet connection with USB capabilities.
You may also be required to purchase Industry Standard uniform items, closed-in, non-slip soled shoes, the details will be provided after enrolment or during onboarding. The purchase of these uniform items may incur additional costs.
You will also require a valid email address and access to personal stationery items.

This is the cost of the training and assessment services provided by the training provider. The fee is paid to the training provider Fee for Services (FFS). Your employer may choose to pay the course fees on your behalf.

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in several ways while you are studying at Cornzal, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
