Department of Home Affairs

You can also use the services of a registered immigration agent to assist you with this process. You should clarify upfront any fees and charges the agent may charge.

Make travel arrangements

Once your student visa has been granted, please advise Cornzal. You should then organise your flight bookings, airport pick up, and accommodation in advance. Cornzal can assist you with these arrangements. You should aim to arrive in Australia at least one week before your course starts to give you time to settle in. You will also be sent an invitation to attend a compulsory Orientation before the course commencement.

When should you apply?

Apply as early as possible. Some courses may close a few months or a year before the start of the course, while others have quotas. Aim to have your online application submitted as early as possible. This allows time for your application to be processed and can help ensure that you secure a place in your preferred course if limited places are available.

Important Information for International Students before making Application for Enrolment

Cornzal’s policies and procedures for International Students are in accordance with the Australian Government Education for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act), the Education Services for Overseas Student Regulations 2001 and the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (National Code).

Please ensure that all documents provided are certified or notarised by an authorised organisation. Cornzal reserves the right to decline applications for any reason at our discretion. Cornzal will not refund any money paid by an international student or intending international student in relation to a course if the student submits fraudulent documents, misleading information or fails to disclose previous visa refusal/cancellation and/or makes a false declaration on the application forms.

Applying for Course Credit

Cornzal may grant credit for subjects with satisfactory grades that have been undertaken at other registered providers if:

– The subject is considered to be equivalent in content and standard to those offered by Cornzal.
– The subject is relevant to the planned course of study.

It should be noted that awarded credit may affect the course and visa duration. To apply for credit assessment, you will need to flag it on your course application form and submit the relevant subject outlines to support your application.

Arrange your student visa

The Australian Government, Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is responsible for issuing visas for entry to Australia. In general, as an international student, you will need a student visa to study at Cornzal. Under a student visa, you may ONLY enrol in a Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) registered course.

You are advised NOT to commence the visa application process until you have been issued with your CoE by Cornzal. We work very hard to provide efficient response times, so it is important that you provide ALL necessary information at the time of application to avoid delays.

It is important to note that your student visa application may take up to six (6) months or longer, depending on your personal circumstances, your nationality and country of residence.

When applying for a student visa, you will need to satisfy all core visa criteria, including the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirements, good character and health criteria. Financial capacity and English language proficiency documentation may also be required.
