Course Description
This qualification includes the units of competency required by Transport Security Screening Officers to perform transport security screening functions including, controlling access to security sensitive areas, undertaking physical searches, and identifying and handling weapons, explosives and prohibited items. A Transport Security Screening Officer must also apply effective communication skills to work in a broad range of transport security protection roles.
Transport Security screening personnel working at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy and limited judgement in structured and stable contexts within narrow parameters.
Individuals seeking accreditation as a Transport Security Screening Officer should check industry specific accreditation requirements with the Aviation and Maritime Security Division of the Department of Home Affairs.
This qualification contains one not for public access (NFPA) restricted unit of competency. Content of NFPA units of competency is not published on the National Register. Access to this unit of competency is critical to security screening operations. Content of this unit is maintained separately and is only available to Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) authorised by the Department of Home Affairs (or its successor). Online
Our online learning refers to instruction that is delivered through various multimedia and Internet platforms and applications. Also referred to as web-based learning, e-learning, computer-assisted instruction, and Internet-based learning.

Attend a campus to learn face-to-face with a teacher in one space, such as a classroom, workshop, laboratory, or simulated environments, or interact with teachers using real-time video or web conference tools.
Our courses delivered on campus have a combination of online and classroom-based learning. You will also be expected to undertake additional personal study to complete the course requirements.

Individuals undertaking this qualification must have passed a valid background check prior to accessing security-restricted resources associated with AVIG0001 Work effectively in a transport security environment.
A valid background check for the purposes of an individual undertaking the qualification is a background check on an applicant for, or the holder of an aviation security identification card or maritime security identification card.
Resources required
You are required to access a reliable internet connection to access Cornzal’s online systems, a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software may be available for students to use at a campus. We recommend that students have access to a laptop or mobile device that supports internet connection with USB capabilities.
You may also be required to purchase Industry Standard uniform items, closed-in, non-slip soled shoes, the details will be provided after enrolment or during onboarding. The purchase of these uniform items may incur additional costs.
You will also require a valid email address and access to personal stationery items.
